Bunny Lovey

After successfully making hats together, my friends and I decided we would be a little adventurous, and attempt to make a Bunny Lovey. In searching for a pattern, we came across a wonderful find, which is free patterns on Red Heart’s Website. One of the great things about these patterns, besides detail in the directions, is the comprehensive list of what you will need and the exact colors to recreate the items. Unfortunately for me, I was still in Istanbul and didn’t have access to Red Heart yarn, so I had to improvise with a Turkish brand, Kartopu Lake, similar in weight to the Red Heart with Love that was suggested [affiliate links to suggested yarn at the end of post].

The Bunny Lovey was made was made with a 5.5 mm (US I) hook, with only minor changes made to the Red Heart pattern. At the end of the bunny head, I added an additional row of 1 sc2tog and 1 sc repeated. Then at the beginning of the blanket, I added an additional 2 hdc in the same spot in the center of the first two rows to make the stitch count correct. While this pattern is a little more difficult, it is a good first project to move past simple hats, scarves, and blankets.
