A Crown of Roses

When I decided I wanted to make a Frida Kahlo pillow, I spent a lot of time looking at her paintings, portraits, and photographs. And what would Frida Kahlo be without her crowns of flowers? I had previously made a rose for the Little Prince, but as his rose is unique in all the world, Frida needed her own roses.

“I paint flowers so they will not die.”
Frida Kahlo

I designed seven new rose patterns for Frida Kahlo’s flower crown, each slightly different from the last. The full pillow, made with both fabric and yarn, sewn and crocheted, will be finished shortly. Below are each of the seven patterns, lettered A through G.

You will need the following supplies:
3.5mm (US E) crochet hook [Affiliate Link]
Tapestry Needle [Affiliate Link]
I Love This Cotton Yarn (330 Rose Bud and 324 Coral) [Available at Hobby Lobby]

To complete these roses, you will need to know the following stitches: sl knot and ch, sl st, sc, hdc, dc

For instructions on final steps of sewing each rose together, view My Rose.
